Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday (January 20) stated that Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) and Central Business District (CBD) projects are essential to curb pollution and congestion issues in Lahore, according to news sources.

PM Khan chaired a review meeting to check the progress of the projects. He went on to say that these projects will help reduce pollution levels due to waste management, eco-friendly international best practices, clean energy sources, and green spaces. The PM stated that action will be taken against the officials who don’t adhere to the timelines of the projects. During the meeting, the attendees were informed about the components of RRUDP to be included in CPEC.

Reportedly, the meeting was also informed that green spaces have been reserved in all the projects and clean technologies will be utilised to ensure eco-friendly construction. It was mentioned that seven international groups have participated in the setup of a waste treatment plant in the RRUDP project.
