Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Arif Abbasi on Monday said that civic agency would stick to the original plan for developing the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Political Affairs Naeem-ul-Haq in Islamabad. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief organiser Saifullah Niazi was also present at the occasion.
The RDA chief referred to the RRR project as a ‘game-changer’ for the city; which serves as the primary station for people travelling to the northern parts of the country. He said that the authority planned to relocate commercial areas, wholesale markets, industrial and educational cities, and housing schemes into the zones proposed for the ring road initiative.

In response, Naeem-ul-Haq and Saifullah Niazi assured the RDA chief that the Punjab government would provide funds required for the project. They were also unanimous in their opinion that the RRR initiative held utmost importance for Rawalpindi.
