Rawalpindi: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid on Monday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to identify suitable land along the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) for the establishment of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme’s (NPHP) local chapter, a news source reported. As per the publication, the minster also asked the authorities concerned to submit a proposal for the acquisition of the aforementioned land to the Housing and Urban Development Punjab within one week.

Minister Rashid issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of the RDA. Parliamentary Secretary Housing, members of the provincial assembly (MPA) Malik Taimoor, MPA Wasiq Qayyum, RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, and other officials were also present during the session.

The RDA officials took the opportunity to brief the minister about the construction of the RRR and the Leh Expressway, along with the approved and banned housing schemes under the jurisdiction of the RDA.

The minister was also informed that the RDA hired the services of M/s Zerak International Private Limited for the development of the ring road project, and the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) to build the Leh Expressway. The consultants are expected to complete the Project cyle-1 (PC-1) for the RRR by March 2020, and for the Leh Expressway by June 2020.
