Rawalpindi: The Punjab government plans to invite expressions of interest (EOI) for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project – a news source reported.
The contract for RRR’s transaction advisory services and detail design will be awarded under PPRA rules. The secretary housing said that PPRA rules will not be relaxed. He further stated that the contract cannot be awarded prior to the fulfilment of all legal obligations.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) previously sought details of RRR’s master plan. The international body also sought details about the land acquired for the project. AIIB will provide funds worth PKR 47 billion for the project.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has decided to establish an industrial zone and a housing society along the proposed ring road network. For this purpose, it has invited suggestions from the business community.

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat said that a public-private partnership framework is being devised for the project.
