Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Tuesday (Sep 15) identified mouzas falling in the economic zone planned along the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) route and approved to make them part of the city area, a news source reported. The decision was taken during in authority’s 49th Governing Body meeting held in its head quarter with RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza in the chair.

The meeting members agreed that these mouzas will be made part of the RDA controlled area soon. The purpose of extending the RDA’s domain to the RRR Economic Zone is regularize the construction activities here and ensure that they are built in accordance with the authority’s predefined regulations and bylaws.
The official notification regarding the RRR economic zone becoming part of Rawalpindi will be issued by the Punjab Government, after which these mouzas will technically be part of the RDA’s controlled area.

In addition to that, the RDA also approved to conduct feasibility study for setting up aerotropolis around the Islamabad International Airport and some parts of the ring road. The Governing Body also decided to hire a survey firm for identifying land to be acquired for construction of Leh Expressway. This is in addition to the body granting its approval for establishing RDA City – the first housing scheme of the RDA.
