Rawalpindi: Rawalpinidi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood has revealed that a drainage system, under construction for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, has been completed; while the developmental work required to construct bridges for the road project has been initiated — according to a news source.

The commissioner shared this information while presiding over a meeting held to discuss project developments and updates. Addressing the session, Commissioner Mehmood said that the land acquisition for the RRR project would be completed this year and that the provincial government had already allocated PKR 60 billion for this purpose. The commissioner further directed the officials concerned to complete the project’s technical framework by February 2020.

The RRR project is set to be completed in the next two years and the commissioner wants to ensure that the communicated deadlines are met, in order to complete the project as per the directives issued by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Mehmood also announced that additional staff members were being hired to manage the operational aspects of the project and to expedite work on its development. For this purpose, the government will soon be selecting people for interviews based on merit and after they have passed certain tests that determine their expertise in various computer software programmes that are necessary for the development of the RRR project.
