Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mahmood on Monday said that the Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) had cleared the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project for development, according to news sources.

He revealed this information while presiding over a meeting held to review the RRR initiative at the Commissioner’s Office. He further stated that all recommendations offered by EPA will be incorporated in the RRR project’s construction to assure that it helps in addressing the prevailing air pollution issue in the twin cities.
The commissioner said that over 300,000 saplings will be planted alongside the ring road. Furthermore, it was revealed that the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) had revisited the Motorway Interchange design to preserve a shrine and a natural spring.

It was also stated that a bridge will be constructed at the airport to preserve a water reservoir under the project’s environment-friendly aspects. Mahmood stressed the need to establish an integrated traffic system for the RRR project.
