Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran on Wednesday expressed gratitude to overseas Pakistanis for remitting more than USD 200 million through the government’s Roshan Digital Accounts facility, according to news sources.

The prime minister took to Twitter to make the announcement regarding Roshan Digital Account remittances. He thanked overseas Pakistan for funds sent through the Roshan Digital Accounts and termed them the country’s ‘great asset’. He that the first USD 100 million were recorded in 76 days and the next USD 100 million came only in 28 days.

According to reports, the Roshan Digital Account for Overseas Pakistanis were seen to receive their highest single day remittance figure – amounting USD 7.70 million – on December 10. The ‘Roshan Digital Account for Overseas Pakistanis’ initiative was inaugurated in September this year by the prime minister himself. The said programme has provided ‘innovative banking solutions for millions of non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) seeking to undertake fund transfers, bill payments, and investment activities in Pakistan’.
