Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday officially launched the Roshan Digital Account facility for overseas Pakistanis, according to news sources.

Khan said that the overseas Pakistanis are the biggest untapped asset of the country that the Roshan Digital Account facility will allow expatriates to effectively become part of the nation-building process. He termed this initiative ‘a big step for Pakistan’.

Moreover, the premier said that half of the government’s revenue is spent on repayment of the loan and that there is a need to move towards wealth creation. He also opined that until the export levels can be raised in the post-coronavirus economic environment, the expatriates need to be encouraged for bringing their investments ‘home’.
For the first time in Pakistan’s history, non-resident Pakistani will able to open an account without needing to visit any bank, embassy or consulate – an entirely digital process.
