Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP)-Punjab has sanctioned five development schemes – including the widening, dualisation and improvement of road infrastructure – in Kotli Sattian, Rahim Yar Khan and Sheikhupura, according to a news story published today (October 20).

The approval was issued during a meeting held on Monday (October 19). Punjab Planning and Development Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, provincial secretaries and representatives of the related departments, members of the Planning and Development Board, and other notable officials were all present on the occasion.
The approved schemes are estimated to cost PKR 3,230 million. As per the details revealed, the PDWP also provided its approval to land acquisition for setting up sewage treatment plants in Sialkot and Sahiwal at an estimated cost of PKR 822.96 million and PKR 657.62 million, respectively.

The three road projects approved in the PDWP meeting are:
- Widening and improvement of 24.1-kilometre long Lehtrar-Kotli Kuliary Road in Tehsil Kotli Sattian, Rawalpindi at a cost of PKR 649.463 million
- Dualisation of the 11.15-kilometre long Jandiala Sher Khan section of Hiran Minar Road in Sheikhupura at an expense of PKR 494.68 million
- Rehabilitation, widening and improvement of Roads in Rahim Khan at a cost of PKR 605.153 million
