Faisalabad: A roadshow aimed at promoting interest-free electric bikes for students in Punjab was launched at the Iqbal Auditorium, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad on April 23, as reported by news sources.
The initiative, led by the Punjab government, seeks to provide interest-free electric bikes to students through convenient installment plans. Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan highlighted the importance of this initiative during the event, emphasizing its alignment with the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiatives. Under this program, 20,000 electric motorbikes will be distributed to students across the province.
Minister Bilal Akbar Khan reiterated the government’s dedication to addressing the transportation challenges faced by students, echoing the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The government plans to conduct roadshows and similar events through the transport department to ensure widespread awareness and participation, ultimately facilitating students in acquiring their own means of transportation.
The roadshow served as a platform not only to inform but also to inspire students to take advantage of this opportunity, thereby enhancing their mobility and access to educational institutions. Interested students can apply for electric bikes by April 29.
Minister Khan mentioned that more than 100,000 students across Punjab have shown interest in acquiring motorcycles. He stressed the government’s commitment to tackling students’ transportation issues, with transport department officials actively organizing roadshows and events across various districts.
Recognizing the overwhelming demand, the minister announced plans for a second phase, which will involve an increase in the number of available electric bikes to meet the needs of students more effectively.
