Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has allocated nearly half of its Annual Development Programme (ADP) funds for developing existing and new road projects, a news source reported.

For the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, the executive has included 83 new schemes in the existing 230 projects. The Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority and the district governments concerned are the executing agencies for these development schemes.
The total funds allocated under the provincial ADP for FY2019-20 amount to PKR 319 billion – out of which the government has reserved PKR 154 billion (approximately half of the total ADP allocations) for these 313 projects.

The ADP for FY 2018-19 prioritised tourism development, promotion of sports & physical activity, and expansion of archaeological initiatives, but the current ADP is geared towards providing communications and health facilities. It also includes various other projects pertaining to agriculture & water, housing, power & energy, industry, and urban development.
