Chitral: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided not to commit funds for construction of Chitral-Garam Chasham road and various roads in Kalash Valley until the new government takes over, a news source reported. The Chitral-Garam Chasham road is set to cost PKR 8 billion, while the roads in Kalash will cost PKR 4 billion.
According to details, work on roads including Chitral-Shandur road, Oveer-Terich road and the first phase of the Chitral-Chakdara road work was set to begin during the current season. These are in different preliminary stages from feasibility to designing and the new federal government will decide their fate and release funds according to its own policy.
The projects are a part of a bid to resolve the infrastructural issues which in turn will improve energy and tourism in the region.
