Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday announced a development package of PKR 5.12 billion during his visit to Narowal for upgrading of infrastructure facilities including drain, roads, and schools, according to media reports shared in national dailies today.
During his visit, the CM laid foundations for three projects under the second phase of the “Naya Pakistan Manzalain Asan” Programme. Addressing the media, the chief minister announced to expand three roads at a cost of PKR 230 million. He also revealed that a massive amount of PKR 5.12 billion will be spent on 39 infrastructural development projects in the city.

CM said that PKR 840 million was allocated for the development of roads, water supply and drainage, and other projects in Zafarwal and Shakargarh. He also mentioned that PKR 1.70 billion will be spent on rehabilitation of Narowal-Zafarwal Road and Syed Chiragh Shah Bypass. In addition to that, 38-km long Narowal-Muridke Road at an estimated cost of PKR 2.40 billion will be developed.
For Kartarpur to Darbar Sahib and Shakargarh to Zafarwal Roads improvement, PKR 1.16 billion has been allocated. Reportedly, the Punjab government has asked the federal government to connect Narowal and Narang Mandi to the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11); the project is estimated to have a cost of PKR 25.34 billion.

Usman Buzdar said that PKR 10.35 billion will be spent on 111 ongoing schemes. In the local government and community development sector, 17 schemes will be completed using PKR 500 million while 31 schemes are almost complete and 34 new schemes will be commencing soon, added the CM.
Moreover, under the Punjab Municipal Services Program, 116 projects worth PKR 150 million have been completed so far. While work is in progress on the local government’s annual development programme worth PKR 350 million.

He also said that 5 projects worth PKR 240 million including the water supply and drainage are ongoing in multiple areas under the Narowal-Zafarwal city package. Also, a police station is being built in Narowal with the help of PKR 115 million.
