Karachi: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the provincial government is working to provide clean drinking water through water filtration and Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants to the people of Sindh, according to a news story. Shah issued this statement while chairing a meeting of different departments looking into establishing, operating, and maintaining water supply and drainage schemes. This meeting was attended by a number of dignitaries.
Shah was briefed about 2,109 water filtration plants, including 1,620 RO plants and 242 Ultra Filtration plants; out of which only 1,044 are functional. Shah reviewed how the functional parts are operating and decided that all RO plants should be contracted out for increasing operation and maintenance. Understanding electricity issues, Shah said that all plants would be converted to solar energy.
