Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday decided to rent out its building in a bid to generate additional revenue, a news source reported.

Rawalpindi Mayor Naseem chaired a meeting to this effect. Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Tariq, Chief Officer Khawaja Imran, and several elected members of the MC were all present at the occasion.
The participants agreed to rent out the first three floors of the corporation’s five-story building situated on Liaquat Road. The portions will now be used for commercial activities.

The meeting was informed that the highest bidder would be stipulated to renovate the building. The concerned party will be liable to follow all the rules and regulations set, in this regard.
Moreover, the corporation approved funds for various projects. These include a PKR 220 million package for paying the pensions of employees, PKR 4 million for conducting an anti-dengue operation, PKR 4.5 million for road rehabilitation, and PKR 1.5 million for the sake of the watchmen guarding the General Bus Stand.

The participants also constituted two committees for performing various functions. The first committee has been tasked with ensuring cleanliness in Rawalpindi. The second committee will auction all the items seized during the anti-encroachment operations conducted in the city.
