The two authorities have asked the occupants to vacate these dilapidated premises ahead of the monsoon rains, predicted for next week, in order to avoid any untoward incident.
As per the details shared by the news report, Rawalpindi and its cantonment areas are currently home to over 200 old buildings. Some of these structures predate the partition, and therefore require immediate repairs.

Moreover, almost all of these buildings are situated in Saddar, Lalkurti, Bhabhra Bazar, Arya Mohalla, Mohanpura, Kartarpura, Amarpura, Jamia Masjid Road, Syedpuri Gate, Dheri Hassanabad, Gawalmandi, College Road and Purana Qila. These localities comprise narrow streets which may create a daunting task (in case of an accident) for the authorities concerned.
