Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has auctioned contracts for various projects in a bid to its increase revenue, a news source reported. The projects fetched a total of PKR 70 million; with PKR 8.2 million and PKR 2.25 million raised from contracts geared towards the maintenance of public washrooms situated in Pirwadhai and the older parts of the city, respectively.

The projects bringing in the most revenue was one contract for the slaughterhouse auctioned at PKR 25 million and one for charging entry fee at the Pirwidhai general bus stand auctioned at PKR 22.1 million. Other contracts issued include PKR 2.15 million for local wagon stations and PKR 390,000 for rickshaw stands among others.

The duration for all contracts is one year. As per officials, the RMC has strictly warned the contractors against overcharging and has directed them to ensure cleanliness in the washrooms and slaughterhouse.
