Rawalpindi: Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mehmood recently said that the use of Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) land for commercial purposes will be reviewed, according to a news report published on January 9.

Commissioner Mehmood made these remarks while presiding over a meeting. RMC chief and other officials concerned were also in attendance. A petrol pump will be set up on six kanals of RMC land on Adiala Road under public-private partnership, said that commissioner.
He added that in the initial phase 158 shops and flats owned by RMC will be auctioned and preparations for the second phase of the auction were currently underway. To this effect, an agreement has also been reached with shop owners at General Bus Stand regarding collection of fare as per the market rate.

Also, a weekly report regarding the issues of RMC shops and flats will also be prepared. Moreover, the said meeting was informed that the corporation had recovered PKR 9.6 million from building by-law violators.
