Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday provided his approval to the ‘Rise Punjab’ project in a bid to boost investment opportunities and enhance the pace of development work within the province amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, a news source reported.

To this effect, CM Buzdar chaired a meeting during which the framework for the said project was shared with him. Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, Advisor Dr Salman Shah, and other senior officials were all present at the occasion.

CM Buzdar said that new priorities needed to be identified so that investment and development work in the province could be boosted. He added that the government had devised a strategy to ensure social protection, education, and healthcare for the citizens.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to devise a framework for the ‘Rise Punjab’ initiative. He said that private investors would be facilitated under a public-private partnership model and that new uplift projects would be executed under the said mechanism.
