Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Sohail Khawaja recently stated that the proposed Faisalabad Ring Road (FRR) project would prove ‘transformational’ for the city’s social and economic growth, according to news sources. As per the publication, the director made these comments while presiding over a meeting held to discuss the Faisalabad master plan and other mega projects.

The briefing session included updates on the technical and operational aspects of the FRR and Technology Park projects. The meeting members also shared their proposals for regulating traffic in the city as per the new master plan. This was considered an essential part of the discussion due the region’s importance to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative. In addition, the city’s promising future, with regards to offering employment opportunities and an improved lifestyle to its residents, was also deliberated.

The FDA DG took the opportunity to state that the FRR would link all the industrial units in the city with the nearest highways and motorways in the area; in turn benefitting the local business community. The feasibility study for the project is expected to be carried out by the private sector, while the Urban Unit will provide technical assistance.

Furthermore, the meeting members also discussed various options for providing IT services to the businesses in the city. For this purpose, the Urban Unit has been tasked with conducting a feasibility study for a Tech Park project.
