Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood Khan on Monday (Sep 7) was briefed on the Tourism Department’s finalization of the request for proposals (RFPs) for the outsourcing and online booking of 94 rest houses in the province, a news source reported. This development follows the department’s earlier decision to publish the FRPs for outsourcing 48 (other) rest houses.

CM Khan received this information while presiding over a Tourism Department meeting at the CM house. He directed the meeting members to ensure the timely completion of all projects targeted to promote tourism in the province — as per the directives issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan. He particularly stressed on completing the on-going road access projects that are being developed for the newly identified tourism sites in the province,ss as they hold the potential to attract local and international tourists.
The CM further directed the officials concerned to launch effective campaigns against encroachment activities at tourist resorts. He also asked the Tourism Department to deploy trained tourist operators at these spots in order to provide better facilities to visitors.

In addition, the meeting members were briefed about the completion of the geo-mapping of the province’s tourist sites within the communicated timeframe. Reportedly, the department is currently working on preparing feasibility studies for foreign and domestic investments in 10 projects planned for the promotion of tourism.
