Rawalpindi: The Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Board on Friday (March 11) approved the revised cost of the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project worth PKR 4.879 billion, which will be utilised for land acquisition and construction expenses, according to news sources.

As per the details, a meeting was held on Monday (March 7), where the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) submitted the revised cost of PKR 4.879 billion to the P&D board for clearance. It was disclosed that the total cost increased from PKR 3.7 billion due to an escalation in the cost of construction materials and land acquisition.
Moreover, it was informed that PKR 3.994 billion will be spent for construction, PKR 135 million will be utilised for shifting utility services such as electricity, telephone, and natural gas. Additionally, PKR 387 million will be used for land acquisition in the limits of the cantonment area while PKR 5 million were allocated for traffic maintenance.

Reportedly, the main square will be developed as signal-free infrastructure with a two-storey flyover that will be the first-of-its-kind in the country. Currently, RDA is working on three main projects including Kutchery Chowk, Leh Expressway and Flood Channel, and Rawalpindi Ring Road.
