Lahore: All revenue authorities have agreed to institute tax reforms in the country, a news source reported. A meeting of these bodies, to this effect, took place at the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) headquarters.
PRA Chairman Javed Ahmad, Sindh Revenue Authority Chairman Khalid Mehmood, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority Chairman Tahir Orakzai attended the session.
Speaking on the occasion, the PRA Chairman said that consultation is underway to fully facilitate the business community. The revenue authorities concerned are working with the Federal Board of Revenue to ease the various difficulties faced by businesspersons across the country.
The chairman further said that state revenues have been reduced because of lowered tax collection from the telecom sectors. However, the revenue attained from other sectors has increased by 25%.
Previously, all the revenue authorities mentioned had agreed share data with each other. It was also decided that court cases relating to telecom services and civil aviation would be pursued jointly.
