Gujranwala: Under the ‘Naya Pakistan-Manzilen Asan’ programme, the Punjab Government has begun the construction and restoration of 24 roads, a news source reported. These roads will interlink the remote rural areas, urban cities and trade points of the Gujranwala district. This development project is estimated to cost PKR 1.82 billion.

These progressive schemes will offer modern and quality transport facilities for rural residents of transfer their organic produce to the market efficiently.
While presiding the meeting of ‘Naya Pakistan-Manzilen Asan’ programme, regarding the development of roads in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkoi, Narowal, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin; Commissioner Waqas Ali Mehmood stated that this vital project reflects the progressive vision of the Punjab Government.

He also said that all the projects under this initiative will receive special attention, when it came to the procurement of the required building materials and timely completions. The Commissioner stressed that the concerned officials will be held accountable for the transparent use of these development funds, and any slack will not be tolerated.

SE Highways Gujranwala Division Muhammad Fayyaz briefed the meeting attendees. He informed the participants that in Highways Circle One; 14 roads (covering 82.47 kilometres) will be restored within the budget of PKR 1058.040 million, including 5 roads in Gujranwala (covering 32.52 kilometres) that will be restored with PKR 444.142 million, 5 roads in Gujrat (covering 28.20 kilometres) will be restored with PKR 330.208 million, 4 roads in Mandi Bahauddin (covering 21.75 kilometres) will be restored with PKR 283.690 million to aid smooth transportation. Under the plan of Highways Circle Two; 4 roads in Hafizabad, 3 in Sialkot and 3 in Narowal will be developed with a sum of PKR 765 million.

The said meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Zakat Council Punjab Rana Bilal Ijaz, Deputy Commissioner Naila Baqir and other concerned officials (including deputy commissioner of other districts, who joined the meeting through video links).
