Murree: The Punjab government has launched a Rs. 550 million project to restore Murree’s iconic Mall Road, aiming to enhance its appeal as a top tourist destination. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has entrusted the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) with leading the restoration effort, ensuring input from experts and local stakeholders.
The project will focus on reviving Mall Road’s historic charm while modernizing its infrastructure. Plans include restoring old footpaths, improving cleanliness, and renovating shops and buildings to their original architectural style.

Uniform signage and lighting will be introduced to maintain a cohesive look, while a new public square will highlight Murree’s rich history. Upgraded public washrooms and other tourist facilities are also part of the initiative.
Additionally, the chief minister announced future projects such as a glass train and a modern hospital to enhance visitor experience. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb will oversee the broader Murree Development Project to ensure efficient execution.
The Punjab government has set a one-year timeline for completion, aiming to restore Murree’s status as a premier tourist destination while preserving its heritage.
