Narowal: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has started the rehabilitation work on the 17-kilometre long section of Narowal-Kartarpur railway track, from Narowal to Chak Amro, according to a news story published on Tuesday (January 25).

As per the details, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan ordered to start work on the railway track, which has been closed for 17 years. It was disclosed that PR will complete the track in two phases. In the first phase, the Construction and Repair, Maintenance Wing of the railways will restore the railway track from Narowal to Kartarpur Railway Station. Reportedly, the 80 feet long rail panels to be used on the mainline have reached Narowal for installation. A passenger train can operate at the speed of 100 kilometres per hour on this track.

According to sources, the rehabilitation of a one-kilometre track will cost PKR 60 million. The project is expected to be complete by March 31, 2022.
