Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab approved a resolution to ban polythene bags in the city, according to a news published on May 20.

As per the details, the resolution will completely ban the use, sale, and manufacture of polythene bags in the city in a bid to prevent its adverse impacts. KMC will take legal action against the violators after June 15.

Reportedly, a resolution was presented to KMC administrator Wahab stating that the use of polythene bags in the last many decades has increased. During the cleaning work of drains, it was observed that city drains were filled with polythene bags. Keeping this in mind, the Sindh Planning and Development department has advised placing a ban on polythene bags. KMC was requested to grant approval for the complete ban on polythene bags.
