Lahore: A resolution for the construction of the Mirpur Airport was moved on Wednesday in the Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, a news source reported. Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pir Syed Ali Raza Bukhari moved the motion.

Presenting the resolution in the assembly, the MLA highlighted the longstanding matter of constructing the airport in Mirpur. He said that the expats belonging to Mirpur Division have had the outstanding demand for this airport. He added that the demand was purposeful.
Bukhari revealed that currently there were around one million expats from Mirpur living in Europe. He added that a large number of these individuals lived in the United Kingdom (UK).

The MLA stated that these expats had not detached themselves from their roots and continued to visit their native areas. He revealed that they heavily invested money and their foreign exchange contributions boosted the local economy.
