Abbottabad: Residents of Abbottabad have requested the local administration to prohibit the construction of shops on a football ground and hand the land over to a local committee, a news source reported.

Abbottabad tehsil nazim Ishaque Zakariya recently received a petition carrying over 4,000 signatures for the cause. Similarly, a delegation of Shaoor Foundation urged Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Afaq to stop the modification Kunj Football Ground on an immediate basis.

The delegation, which included lawyers and notables of Kunj and Kehal, informed the DC that the tehsil council had invited bids for construction of shops on the playground’s land.
Younis Abbasi, ex-nazim of the Kehal union council, said that the construction of shops on the left side of the land would consume a portion of the ground and also damage greenery of the area.

Previously, the citizens concerned had brought the matter into the notice of KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, MNA Ali Khan Jadoon, as well as the Hazara commissioner.
