Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed residents of previously tribal districts to register themselves with the FBR’s field officers by 30th September, 2018, according to a news source. The major districts that were directed to do this were Chitral, Swat, and Cholistan, among others.
New clauses for this purpose have been added to the Income Tax Ordinance by the FBR. Under Clause 144, the residents and businesses in the area have been directed to register themselves with the FBR by 30th September, 2018. Another clause, Clause 145, states that tax exemptions awarded to these districts shall only be applicable for companies and associations of persons whose registered offices are present in these areas.
