Chitral: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand, Major General Amir Ali Awan stated that both the Government and Pakistan Army are committed to creating a conducive environment where development takes place and the income and social indicators of the people living in the border regions are improved, according to a news report.
He said this while addressing a gathering of community members from Arandu and Domel valleys of Chitral. The GOC was there to attend the inauguration of projects worth PKR 380 million being initiated in the valley by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP).
These projects are being executed with the help of German government through the PATRIP Foundation. The German government has provided a total of PKR 530 million through SRSP for the area. The newly launched projects include building the second phase of Arandu Kamsai Valley Road to connect Domel and Arandu valleys.
The second project is going to be the rehabilitation and improvement of 16 government schools, while the third one is the building of a marketing centre at Arandu. These projects will benefit more than 25,000 people.
