Battagram: The residents of Battagram have asked for an anti-encroachment campaign to be conducted in the district’s main bazaar, a news source reported. They complained to the local administration about the increasing number of illegal landholdings in the area.
The residents informed that traders were renting out spaces in front of their shops to vendors. They stressed that this was clearly against the law. They also expressed their concerns about how these encroachments made footpaths and the main road more crowded – thereby increasing the risk of traffic accidents.

The vendors explained that they pay the shopkeepers and traders a monthly rent. These traders, therefore, get to earn a decent amount of money from the stallholders.
On the other hand, residents don’t appreciate the misuse of the footpaths.
One resident, upon being questioned, said that the government spends millions of rupees to construct these footpaths for pedestrians. But their misuse prevents them from walking with ease and safety.
