Rawalpindi: The residents of the Rawalpindi Cantt area have requested the government to fix their pressing water shortage issues, according to a news report. They have complained that despite heavy rains having filled the city’s nearby dam facilities, the cantonment area still continues to face this scarcity.
The area’s residents requested the government to take this issue seriously and to resolve it as soon as possible. According to some residents, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) had been sending them water bills, despite rationing the commodity even during the summer months when demand was relatively higher. They also alleged that tube wells were not being operated regularly, and remained locked up.

An RCB spokesman revealed that the civic body was planning to streamline the water supply system in Rawalpindi Cantt. He also said that anyone not paying their bills for the last year would have their supply cut off. Furthermore, the spokesperson added that the board would be conducting surprise checks in order to ensure that tube well operators were present at their stations from Friday onwards.
