Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has cancelled the conversion of 930 residential plots to commercial plots, according to a news report. Notices have been sent to the owners of the plots, directing them to stop using the plots for commercial purposes within seven days.
SBCA has cancelled all such conversions under the orders of the Supreme Court. All permissions granted by Karachi Development Authority, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, SBCA, and other agencies have been rescinded.
The 930 residential plots identified were being used for commercial purposes during the 2004-2019 period. The notice emphasises the need for restoring land plots-usage to their original, intended purposes. It warns of a SBCA action in case of non-compliance.
Properties in more than sixty kachi abadis, including Neelum Colony and Hijrat Colony, have also received these notifications.
