Lahore: A research laboratory which would convert waste to energy was inaugurated by Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at the Institute of Chemistry, according to a news report. This laboratory aims to turn biomass into a viable energy option.
Dr Zaibun Nisa said the project was worth PKR 71 million and would include the establishment of an industrial research laboratory, and the transformation of communal waste and biomass to energy. The capacity of this project has been slated to be 3 KV, which will be continuously expanded in the future. Dr Akhtar was of the opinion that such projects should be undertaken so that they could contribute to the country’s economy and betterment.
