Landi Kotal: The Rescue 1122 service on Wednesday extended its operations to the Khyber district; setting up its office in the Jamrud Tehsil – a news source reported. Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Khateer Ahmad inaugurated the facility.

He said that 13 similar centres would be established in the rest of the tribal districts and each district will have at least two centres. Moreover, two such centres will also be established in the former frontier regions at a cost of PKR 3 billion, he added.
By utilising its existing resources, the organisation recently posted some of its officials to commence with its operations in the said tehsil. It plans to recruit more than 1,500 new staff members from the tribal districts in the near future.

According to Dr Ahmad, land for six of these centres has been acquired and all the centres would be completed by year end.
He said that the centre was equipped with all the modern equipment in its bid to address any emergency situation.
