Karachi: The authorities concerned have been asked to clear off any public spot encroachments – a news source reported.
Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah issued the directives. He was chairing a meeting to review progress on public parks’ rehabilitation. All deputy commissioners and representatives of civic agencies also attended the meeting.

The officials were asked to conduct operations against illegal occupants in the metropolis. They were also directed to submit a report on the issue within three days.
It was revealed that 52 out of 82 parks in District South have been vacated. An operation is being carried out to retrieve the remaining 30 parks. The DC West said that of the total figure, only three parks were encroached upon. He added that they would be cleared within three days.

The DC Korangi informed that all 213 plots/parks had been cleared. In District Malir, only one out 79 parks had been vacated. The DC East said that an operation to retrieve three parks was underway. Similarly, DC Central informed that 45 parks were being cleared of encroachments.
