Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sought a report on individuals owning expensive properties across the country – a news source reported.
The bureau has notified intelligence directorates concerning its plans. These information-gathering bodies will prepare a list of the top 15 individuals owning residential and commercial properties nationwide worth over PKR 105.3 billion.

FBR has identified over 6,000 citizens who purchased expensive properties between 2014 and 2017. A report on the top 15 cases will afterwards be forwarded to FBR Headquarters.
The cases in question had remained in a stayed condition for more than a year. The government recently passed the Finance Act, which gave legal cover to the intelligence directorates.

The Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation – Inland Revenue will work on the cases. The executive revived this department through a similarly-named act presented in the recent mini-budget.
