Quetta: The provincial cabinet has sought a feasibility report from the finance department for the establishment of Bank of Balochistan, a news source reported. This was decided during a meeting of the cabinet under the chair of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, who also reviews 100-day performance of the government. All provincial ministers, advisers, and secretaries attended the meeting.
It was agreed that the provincial revenue authority and Balochistan Public Procurement Regulatory Authority be made autonomous. The finance department has been tasked to prepare the terms of reference (ToRs).
The cabinet approved a draft pertaining to a special support programme under which the government would provide assistance to the social and sports sector as well as set up scholarships for students. It also approved the continuation of District Rural Development Programme and extension of the Chief Minister’s District Development Plan.
Participants pressed ahead with the revised cost of Turbet-Buleda Road from PKR 929 million to PKR 1.487 billion. To address environmental concerns, the cabinet allotted PKR 100 million to the provincial environment department. It also approved the establishment of an institute of chest diseases at Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital.
