Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a report to the Supreme Court about the status of unregistered and illegal housing schemes, according to a news source. The report stated that 6,000 housing societies have been found in the country which are ‘unregistered, illegal, ghost and paper’.
This was after the court created a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising of FIA representatives, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and Anti-Corruption Agencies. This JIT audited 695 societies, and found that many housing schemes in Pakistan had been extended without any approvals.
