Lahore: The authorities concerned have forwarded a report on 18 tourism projects to the Punjab Assembly for its approval, a news source reported on March 11. The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to promote tourism in the province.

Under the said initiative, the provincial executive will upgrade chairlifts, install barbed wires, and provide residential accommodations to on-duty staff. Other projects include the development of several parkway attractions and a viewpoint in Kotli Sattian; procurement of water scooters, pedal boats and motorboats for Kallar Kahar Lake; construction of a resort near Dharabi Lake Chakwal; expansion of tourist resort as well as acquisition of land for a recreational park in Khushab District; and the development of water sports and theme park at Kalabagh in Mianwali.

According to the report forwarded to the provincial legislature, the government also intends to set up an Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, a tourism complex and a resort (at Derawar Fort in Cholistan); upgrade the chairlift and cable car at Patriata; and develop a parkway at the Sulaiman Mountains.
