The MNA stated that the authorities concerned should replace the worn-out water supply lines before commencing with the installation of new tube-wells and filtration plants. Other members of the committee expressed their support for the suggestion.
As per reports, the city’s supply lines currently pass along sewerage lines. This leads to contamination of the fresh water, which becomes a source of numerous water-borne diseases. With the removal of old pipelines, the authorities concerned will be able to reduce this leakage and contamination by 40%.
SAA will conduct its next meeting during the upcoming week. It has also issued notices to the relevant authorities for providing details pertaining to ongoing water schemes in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Bodies has approved the up-gradation of five new roads, along with a storm drain, in the city. These include the main roads situated in Sardaran, Dhok Ratta, Farooq-e-Azam, Bhatta Naik Alam, and F-Block Satellite Town, and the storm drain in Naya Muhalla.
