Karachi: Reon Energy Limited has announced the commissioning of a 12.5 (megawatt) MW solar energy power plant in Jhang Bahtar area of Punjab, a news source reported.

This facility is being built at Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL). The aim of this project is to commercialise a unit to lower the production cost of electricity.
This plant is expected to yield around 20 Gigawatt Hours (GWh) of energy annually, which will prevent approximately 121,437 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere during the next 10 years. It will be integrated into the national power grid.

CEO Reon Energy Limited Mujtaba Haider Khan stated that this power plant would offset higher prices from other sources of electricity for the cement industry. He added that this initiative would also help the sector preserve its margins in the current market situation.
