Gujranwala: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rai Manzoor Hussain Nasir has directed that rents of the shops owned by municipal corporation should be raised, a news source reported. A committee had been formed for presenting recommendations on the increase of rents. The DC, acting on the recommendations, directed the raise.
Now the rents in 17 market centres and hundreds of shops and buildings owned by the municipal corporation have been set between PKR 30,000 and PKR 60,000. Previously, the property was being rented for as low as PKR 400 to PKR 600.
The deputy commissioner had taken notice of the matter on the application of opposition member in the municipal corporation and had formed a committee to present its recommendation on the matter. Now, acting on the recommendations, the rents have been raised, depending on the circumstances of each shop, and notifications have been issued for the increase. Notices have also been sent for the recovery of rents.
