Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza on Sunday (December 05) said that the PKR 1.3 billion Ammar Chowk project will be completed by December 31, news sources reported.

He said that the project is part of the three mega road infrastructure projects started in the city to alleviate traffic problems. As per the reports, the chairman stated at a seminar that the decision to commence these projects in Rawalpindi, at Ammar Chowk, Kutcherri Chowk, and Defence Chowk, one after the other, was made with the traffic load and continuity of traffic flow on these routes in mind. He also stated that when the Ammar Chowk project is completed, the PKR 3.8 billion two-story flyover project at the Kutchery Chowk project will begin in early 2022 that will be followed by the PKR 2.1 billion Defence Chowk project.

According to RDA Chairman Murtaza, the two-story flyover project would be the first of its type in Pakistan, and it will also enhance traffic flow in the city. The Ammar Chowk project has been in the works for almost 12 years and has undergone significant design changes. However, construction on the project began in early 2021 and is presently being carried out by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
