Lahore: The Punjab government is collaborating with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) to prepare a PKR 2 billion relief package for affectees of the Hafeez Centre fire incident, according to a news source published on Wednesday (October 28). Under the package, the bank will provide long-term loans with relatively easy terms and conditions.
In addition to providing loans, the BOP has also offered to relocate the Hafeez Centre shop owners and tenants to the IT Tower in Gulberg. Other facilities being offered include:
- Financing to purchase supplies
- Financing for construction/rehabilitation of shops
- Financing for purchasing shops
- Minimum markup of 3%

These loans are being offered under the Punjab Rozgar Scheme on soft terms, with markups ranging between 4 to 5%. Reportedly, the loans will have to be paid back in five to eight years.
The final approval on the implementation of the said package will be provided by Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
