Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo on Friday (January 21) announced that the provincial government will get an increased profit share in the Reko Diq project, news sources reported. The share has been raised from the previously set figure of 2%.

According to reports, the minister stated that the federal government at the request of the provincial government has purchased shares in a company that had abandoned the project. The additional shares will be transferred to the Balochistan government before the work on the project begins. It was also revealed that the firms engaged in the project have been asked to invest PKR 40 billion on public infrastructure and community development projects at the Reko Diq project site. The funds will be spent prior to the project’s commencement date.

Moreover, CM Bizenjo stated that the government will soon launch a power supply project for Gwadar. The power will be acquired from Iran, and a high-level delegation will be visiting the country soon to discuss the matter. Furthermore, the Makran coast will be linked to the national grid, and all three districts of Makran will soon get power.
