Peshawar: The Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has announced the start of Rehman Baba Express train service between Peshawar and Karachi, a news source reported. According to the minister, Rehman Baba Express is launched mainly for low-income groups as the fare will be kept low.
The new train will reduce the travel time between Peshawar and Karachi by 7-9 hours and the fare would be kept at PKR 1,350. The minister said that he will monitor the operation and timings of the train.
Ahmed also said that 20 new trains will be launched next year. He added that three tourism and business trains are also in the plans. Freight trains will be increased from 10 to 15 to reduce losses.
Track infrastructure will be changed around the country and new stations will be established at Nowshera, Jehangira, and Attock and a new track for Torkhan will be stretched through the Shalman area.
