This section of the highway requires a lot of work due to the presence of several potholes and craters which greatly hinder its traffic flow.

On Tuesday, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed instructed the authority’s engineering wing and traffic police to inspect the area and propose the interventions needed on an urgent basis. The work would necessarily include the removal of the road obstructions mentioned. Furthermore, slip lanes will be constructed to provide easy access to the PWD Housing Society and Pakistan Town, along with the widening of the U-turn near PWD signal.

The civil work would be conducted jointly by the CDA and some housing societies situated alongside the expressway.
The repair work comprises an interim solution to the severe traffic congestion problem that has for long characterised vehicular flow on the Islamabad Expressway. Experts opine, however, that a more permanent and viable fix will be required to alleviate the problem in its entirety.
